Craigslist started out innocently enough and as a self employed Full Charge Bookkeeping freelancer I found it very useful to post ads for my company urging small business owners to come and take a look at my bookkeeping prowess. I did not have to pay a fee and there are thousands of people on that list serve that needed financial assistance but the only problem is that Craigslist was then as it is now – a public list serve – where the general public which includes pedophiles, rapists, murderers and that ilk fall between the cracks of the genuine small business owners jocking for the right vendor to hire.
But now Craigslist has become a haven for criminal minds hell bent on sorting our their problems by creating more for innocent people seeking jobs for hire. In my opinion it all began with the inception of their EROTIC section where anyone could place an ad. And the madams and pimps of the world have taken the internet and twisted it for their own financial gain. In some countries like CHINA they have taken to robbing children in order for them to be sold for slavery to other families (like boys) who are a commody in China since they are only allowed to have one child per family. Girls are considered tradeable and this practice has become common under the dictatorship rule they have there since England left. A horrible place now under Jiang Zemin, China’s new Marxist dictator reeks of China’s past violence against their own people.
Having written that I return to the subject of Craigslist. I have been sick the entire month of April with the flu and because of that I have not been able to pound the pavement looking for clients as I had done in the past. This has depressed me more than I can say because I am up to my eyeballs in debt from Lines of Credit that are extinguished and credit cards who are trying to undercut my efforts of staying afloat by reducing my credit limits whenever they feel threatened that I will not be able to pay.
Now don’t get me wrong. I have met some nice clients on Craigslist however the bad clients outweight the good ones. Maybe I was born to have my own company because working for someone 9-5 under their thumb, get me this that and another is not for me. However even with the freelance you occasionally get clients who do not get the concept of freelance and a 1099 indepdendent contractor. WE DO NOT WORK FOR YOU BUDDY – We are contracted to work WITH you – we are not your EMPLOYEES but I’ll be your slave girl if you pay my medical, dental and vision benefits!
These days you get kids intermiggling with adults who have dark intentions to lure them into situations with money, drugs and alcohol. The case of the gay journalist in NYC who lured a 16 year old male prostitute to his home in Brooklyn and then the kid killed him. Well I’m sorry he deserved what he got b/c first of all he is and was A PEDOPHILE advertising for a kid to fuck him. If he wasn’t dead I’m sure he’d be in jail but now the kid who killed him is in jail being tried as an adult.
The 22 year old med student with a girlfriend who was luring prostitutes and massues into hotel rooms in NYC to rob them and eventually he killed one of the girls. What was his story? Is he as serial robber? Rapist? Whatever he is – he is a serial something because it took the cops awhile to catch on that Doc in training was nutso.
What makes Craigslist a hotspot for maniacs? Just look at it. C’mon look at the site closely one day. Check out all the ads. You could spend all day reading and answering emails and some people do and a lot of people TROLL that webspot for evil doings (a bushism that finally fits)
In short – Craigslist is a good place to connect for some things but not for others. You want to meet a new person – go to MATCH.COM no one got killed yet from that website.
My joke (unfortunately I can joke about Craigslist) is that everytime I place an ad for my bookkeeping services someone gets killed or robbed or something happens on Craigslist to make me thing “Goooddd what next?”
